When your GHD Gold S7N261 straightener flash a red light and beeps, it indicates a fault and that the straightener is in fail safe mode.

Common issues causing a red flashing light Failsafe mode:

A temporary electronic glitch can put the straighteners in a "failsafe mode." Try unplugging your GHD a few minutes and then plug it back in to reset it. If this does not solve the problem then your GHD will be in permanent "failsafe mode." This will be for one of the following reasons.

Fuse failure: A broken heater thermal fuse. If the heater in your GHD got too hot it may have blowing the thermal fuse

Broken internal wiring: Common faults include broken wires leading to the heating elements or the temperature sensor in the heater (they don't have a thermistor in this model). 

Broken heating element: Another common fault is a broken heating element.

The solution to fixing your GHD straightener. 

Finding the fault with your GHD is pretty easy using a multi meter and some tools, however GHD have gone anti repair within the last few years and have made it so even if your repair the broken parts in your GHD you won't be able to take your GHD out of safemode. Thankfully we have found a way to take the GHD out of safemode by connecting the main control board of the GHD to a PC and installing our own firmware.
